GU-Q Welcomes Class of 2028 at Historic Convocation
Georgetown University in Qatar (GU-Q) launched its 20th anniversary celebrations by proudly welcoming 132 students in the Class of 2028 at the 2024 Convocation. This historic event welcomed the largest number of Qatari students ever admitted and honored two decades of partnership with Qatar Foundation and enduring contributions to Qatar’s educational landscape—a milestone to be marked throughout the year with various events and activities. This program brings four outstanding doctoral candidates to the Qatar campus, where they will spend a year furthering their research and teaching while contributing to the academic environment. Student Calligraphy Exhibition Celebrates Love of Arabic Language
Eight weeks. That’s all it took for 12 students to delve into Arabic calligraphy and create stunning art. Guided by Sargis Simonyan (SFS’25), who discovered his love of calligraphy in his first-year Arabic class at GU-Q, they explored the history and techniques of Arabic calligraphy, resulting in striking pieces showcased in our Spring 2024 exhibition.
